In Echigo-Tsumari, one of the regions in Niigata prefecture, there is an old custom of filling the space between houses and the roads in front of them with flowers. It is a way for the local residents to show consideration and a warm welcome to people passing by. The gardens are called “Michiniwa”. They are bordering between private housing areas and public roads. Modeling after this concept of “Michiniwa”, here we are collecting photo images of gardens from all over the world and will arrange them in a horizontal line on this site.
